Our Story
Family Tradition
Our journey in the quarter horse breeding industry is deeply rooted in our family heritage. What began as a humble venture has evolved into a respected breeding program built on integrity, dedication, and a deep respect for our animals. We take pride in continuing our family legacy by nurturing and enhancing the bloodlines of our beloved quarter horses. While 1806 Quarter Horses may be a new name, it represents nearly 80 years of quarter horse breeding that started with John Froelich—a father, grandfather, and now great-grandfather to fellow breeders. This journey began in the late 1940s when John acquired a stallion and three mares registered with either the AQHA or the National Quarter Horse Breeders Association, aiming to breed horses suitable for cattle work safe for his family. In 2023, John was inducted into the North Dakota Quarter Horse Association Hall of Fame. Today, we proudly include John's two sons: Warren Froelich, along with family—Mary (wife), Dusty (son), and granddaughters Brynlee and Blayklyn, along with Kurt Froelich his family—Susan (wife), daughters Samantha and Kara, and grandchildren Avery, Brody, and Tucker.
